Alps, Amara Raja & AP Paper Mills Q3 results

Textile company Alps Industries posted 125.79 per cent increase in net profit at Rs 7.09 crore for the third quarter ended December 2005 from Rs 3.14 crore recorded in the same quarter last year.
 
Turnover increased by 58 per cent at Rs 69.02 crore as against Rs 43.73 crore last year, a company statement said. Operating profits were up by 69.9 per cent to Rs 11.4 crore.
 
"With the company well prepared to tap the vast opportunities arising from the opening up of global textile trade, this will help further fuel financial performance in the coming quarters," Sandeep Agarwal, managing director, said.
 
The commercial production of the company's new 50 tonne per day capacity yarn spinning project at Haridwar is slated to commence during the January-March 2006 quarter, the statement said.
 
Amara Raja net up 382%
 
Amara Raja Batteries reported 382 per cent jump in net profits to Rs 6.8 crore for the third quarter ended December 2005 compared with Rs 1.4 crore for the same period last year.
 
The company's net sales registered a growth of 61.5 per cent to Rs 97.7 crore compared with Rs 60.5 crore for the same period the previous year.
 
AP Paper Mills net up 8%
 
Andhra Pradesh Paper Mills reported 7.58 per cent increase in net profit at Rs 7.23 crore for the third quarter ended December 2005, as compared with Rs 6.72 crore in the corresponding quarter last financial year.
 
Total income increased by 11.4 per cent to Rs 134.73 crore from Rs 120.63 crore registered in the year-ago period.
