Alstom, HCC win Rs 1,843 cr hydro power contract

French firm Alstom today said it has bagged a contract worth Rs 1,843 crore in consortium with Hindustan Construction Company (HCC) from Tehri Hydro Development Corporation (THDC) to construct a 1,000 MW hydro power plant in Uttarakhand.

"Alstom, in consortium with Hindustan Construction Company (HCC), has been awarded a contract worth over Rs 1,843 crore by Tehri Hydro Development Corporation (THDC) to install a 1,000 MW variable speed pumped storage hydro power plant in Uttarakhand," a company statement said.

Alstom will supply four 250 MW turbine and generator units and other equipment. On completion, the plant's electricity output will provide power to the country's Northern Grid.
