Alstom-led consortium in pact with Bangalore Metro

Alstom and its consortium partners have signed a contract with Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL) to supply signalling system for the first two lines of the new Bangalore metro system. Both the lines will enter into revenue services in September 2012.

The contract is valued at Rs 563.4 crore, of which Alstom’s consolidated share is around Rs 354.7 crore. The contract also has a provision for BMRCL to exercise a firm option of Rs 141.2 crore (Alstom's consolidated share is Rs 114.8 crore) within 15 days of the base contract coming into effect, a press release said.

The contract includes design, manufacture, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of modern signaling/train control and telecommunication systems for two corridor lines (North-South (17.9 km /18 stations) and East-West (18.1 km /17 stations) of Bangalore Metro system including two depots and one operation control centre (OCC).

The option to be exercised covers additional 5.7 km/6 stations and one back-up OCC.
