Amar Remedies to spend Rs 20 cr for Dehradun unit

Amar Remedies (ARL), manufacturers of herbal oral care products, is setting up a manufacturing facility at Dehradun. The unit is expected to start operations by November 2006.
 
Managing Director Sagar Shah said, "We are setting up the manufacturing centre at Dehradun at an investment of Rs 20 crore. The factory, with a manufacturing capacity of 3 crore toothpastes a month, will be spread over an area of 1.50 lakh square feet."
 
Currently, the company has two manufacturing facilities at Surat and Daman. Total investment in these two manufacturing facilities is around Rs 14 crore "� Rs 9.5 crore in the Daman plant and Rs 4.5 crore in Surat.
 
The manufacturing capacity of its Daman plant is 4,000 tonne per month, while the Surat plant will have a capacity of 2,000 tonne a month.
 
ARL has registered 19 per cent sales growth in the financial year ended March 2006. Its turnover for the year was Rs 106 crore and Rs 87 crore in FY05. ARL has set a sales target of Rs 155 crore for the current financial year.
 
"ARL has launched 100 per cent Ayurvedic and vegetarian oral care products under the brand name Amar Toothpaste," said Shah. It is available in three variants 'Amar Strong', 'Amar Regular' and 'Amar White'.
 
In addition to the oral care products, the company is also launching Amar Balm and Amar Get up.
 
"Our new 25 oral care products will be launched in the next two years," he added.
