Amara Raja Batteries has signed an original equipment (OE) agreement with Hyundai Motor India to supply 60,000 zero-maintenance Amaron batteries over the next 12 months.This was announced in a release issued by Amara Raja Batteries to the BSE today.Jay Galla, managing director of Amara Raja Batteries, said: "We are proud to be associated with Hyundai. Hyundai has been a trendsetter in the Indian passenger car industry, and is today a major player both in India and globally. At Amara Raja, it is a matter of immense pride and satisfaction that Amaron batteries are present today under the hood of most leading auto companies in the country in less than 4 years of the commencement of our automotive plant."The company is in the process of scaling up capacity at its Tirupati plant from 1.5 million units to 2.4 million units per annum at an estimated investment of Rs 38.8 crore. This is expected to be completed by December 2005, the release added.
