Amara Raja net falls 68%

Amara Raja Batteries Ltd (ARBL) has reported a fall of 68 per cent in profit after tax at Rs 0.48 crore for the fourth quarter in 2004-05 compared to Rs 1.5 crore the same period last year.
 
Profit before tax zoomed by 78 per cent to Rs 2.7 crore for the fourth quarter in 2004-05 as against Rs 1.5 crore for the same quarter the previous year.
 
The company's net sales registered a growth of Rs 64.2 crore for the last quarter during 2004-05 as against to Rs 46.9 crore the corresponding period the previous year.
 
ARBL's profit after tax jumped by 6.25 times to Rs 8.6 crore for the year ending March 31, 2005 compared to Rs 1.3 crore the previous year. Net sales increased by 34 per cent to Rs 218.6 crore in 2004-05 as against Rs 163.5 crore during 2003-04.
 
Meanwhile, the company informed that Jayadev Galla was re-appointed as the managing director of the company for a period of five years from September 1, 2005, by the board of directors of the company at their meeting held on June 30, 2005.
