In a major ramp up of its aftermarket business, Amara Raja Batteries Limited (ARBL), an automotive battery manufacturer, has announced plans to open 10 new Amaron Pitstops in Tier-II towns in India this month.

An ARBL press release said that the current expansion will take the total number of Amaron Pitstops to over 60 and would further strengthen the pan-India retail network of the company which spans 26 states through 105 franchisees and over 7,000 active retail outlets.

Commenting on the aftermarket ramp up, Jay Galla, managing director of Amara Raja Batteries Limited, said, "Pitstop as a concept of marketing automotive batteries has caught on very well, both with the customers as well as our franchisees. This is indicated by the fact that currently about 10 per cent of our aftermarket automotive battery sales come from Pitstops."
