Amara Raja Batteries Ltd today reported a marginal decline it its net profit for the third quarter ended December 31, 2010, at Rs 39.65 crore.
The company had posted a net profit of Rs 39.86 crore in the same period last fiscal, the company said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).
Net sales during the third quarter this fiscal were at Rs 424.92 crore, as against Rs 366.84 crore in the year ago period, up 15.83 per cent, it added.
The board of directors of the company have also declared a one time special dividend of Rs 2 per equity share of Rs 2 each to commemorate the company's silver jubilee, it said.
During the third quart her this fiscal, raw material consumption cost stood at Rs 298.79 crore, as against Rs 264.99 crore in the corresponding period last fiscal.
Employee cost during the quarter increased to Rs 19.53 crore from Rs 16.1 crore in the same quarter a year ago.
Amara Raja scrips were trading at Rs 182 per share on the BSE in the late afternoon session, up 3.29 per cent from the previous close.
