Massage start-up raises funds
Soothe, a Los Angeles-based and on-demand mobile massage services firm, has raised $10.6 million. The funding was led by global private equity firm The Riverside Company. Founded in 2013 by tech entrepreneur Merlin Kauffman, Soothe had in February this year raised $1.7 million.
Massdrop to add new features
Online community builder Massdrop has raised $40 million in a Series-B round of funding led by August Capital, with participation from First Round Capital, Mayfield Fund and Cowboy Ventures.
Co-founded in 2012 by Steve EI-Hage, the San Francisco-based start-up plans to deploy the proceeds to expand into new categories in the next year, beside adding features to its portal, a press release said.
Yogrt raises $3 million
Yogrt, a location-based social networking application, has raised $3 million from Centurion Private Equity and Linear Ventures. The Indonesian start-up, founded in October 2014 by Jason Lim, former managing director of Acer Indonesia, and a bunch of serial entrepreneurs, currently has at least 500,000 registered users. Yogrt said it was planning to expand to Southeast Asia and Hong Kong in the next six months.

Korean start-up Tree Planet, co-founded in 2010 by Kim Hyung-soo and Jeong Min-cheol and Kim Jae-hyun, raises funds through mobile games and a crowd-funding platform with the aim of planting trees around the world. The social venture has found a way to win over consumers, nonprofits, and corporate sponsors while tackling hunger in South Sudan, desertification in China and concrete jungle greyness in Seoul.
