Amazon has reported 150% growth in its fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) category in Uttar Pradesh over last year.

In the FMCG space, beauty, health and personal care products had witnessed good traction and continue to grow, Amazon India category leader (FMCG) Saurabh Srivastava said here on Friday.

Lucknow alone accounts for over 20% of the FMCG orders, followed by other major towns of Kanpur, Varanasi, Noida, etc., that also figure in the top.

The global online marketplace is already tied up with 400 sellers in UP in the FMCG category.

Pan India, the FMCG selection stands at 1.9 million products, growing over 500% year-on-year with close to 9,000 sellers on board.

Launched in June 2013, Amazon.in had received tremendous response from both customers and sellers, he informed. Amazon.in’s total selection stands at over 65 million products across hundreds of categories.

In 2013, Amazon.in had started with 100 odd sellers across categories. Today, the total number of sellers on the platform is 1,00,000 and growing.

FMCG on Amazon spans categories like household supplies, beauty, health, gourmet, baby products, personal care, etc.

“In the FMCG space, more than 50% of the orders emerge from tier II and III cities across the country,” Srivastava said, adding there was huge potential for growth going forward. Across categories, almost 65% of the orders placed with Amazon.in come from outside the top eight cities.

Amazon operates 22 fulfilment centres (FC) across 10 states. These broadly function as a central warehousing and packaging facility for the thousands of small and medium businesses collaborated with the company. There are plans to launch six more FC in the current fiscal.

Amazon.in marketplace is operated by Amazon Seller Services, an affiliate of Amazon.com.
