AMRI Hospitals to offer course in emergency medicine

The programme, designed to impart advanced knowledge in emergency and trauma care, would have an intake of 8-12 fellows per year

AMRI Hospitals, part of the Rs 10,000 crore Emami Group, will start a three-year master's programme in emergency medicine from August this year. The course will be offered in collaboration with the Ronald Reagan Institute of Emergency Medicine (RRIEM) under George Washington University (US) . The programme, designed to impart advanced knowledge in emergency and trauma care, would have an intake of 8-12 fellows per year.

“This is the first of its kind course introduced in Odisha. The course fee is Rs 9 lakh for three years. Every year, faculty from the US would visit our hospital besides faculty drawn from within the country”, said Rupak Barua, CEO, AMRI Hospitals.

Jeffrey Smith, director, RRIEM said, "The department of emergency medicine at the George Washington University is the seventh largest academic emergency medicine department in the US. We are happy that AMRI Hospitals, Bhubaneswar has recognized the need to train physicians in emergency medicine. This collaboration also marks our footprint in Odisha."

The programme is divided into 36 clinical modules that will cover the entire spectrum of emergency medicine. RRIEM and AMRI Hospital will provide faculty coverage and programme oversight for this course.
