Another member of the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), the maker and owner of Amul brand, today approached the Gujarat High Court against the federation chairman Vipul Chaudhary, facing no trust motion.

Parthi Bhatol, chairman of Banaskantha District Cooperative Milk Producers' Union Limited also known as Banas Dairy, today filed an application before Justice A J Desai seeking to become party to the plea filed by Chaudhary challenging the meeting of GCMMF board of directors to discuss no-confidence against him. The court has decided to hear application along with the main petition filed by Chaudhary tomorrow.

Banas dairy is the fourth member of the federation, besides Ahmedabad, Bhavnagar and Panchmahal district dairy unions, to approach the High Court against Chaudhary. These dairies have argued that they being member of the GCMMF should be heard before deciding on Chaudhary's plea. In his plea Chaudhray has argued that there was no provision of no-trust motion against the federation chairman in the Gujarat cooperatives Act and the federation's bye-laws.

Chaudhary is facing the heat by a majority of board members over mismanagement in Mehsana District Cooperative Milk Producers' Union, as well as for meeting Congress vice-chairman Rahul Gandhi with an eye on National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) top job. Mehsana Union is also headed by Vipul Chaudhary. As many as 14 out of 17 board members of Rs  13,700 crore GCMMF had moved a no-confidence motion against Chaudhary and had called for a special meeting on October 26 to discuss no-trust motion.
