Amway eyes Rs 1,000 crore turnover

With the aim to extend its reach throughout the country and facilitate its distributors, Amway India Enterprise "" a major direct selling FMCG Company in the country, is planning to open offices at over 100 new locations in the next 12 months. The company is eyeing Rs 1,000 crore mark in the next three years.
 
Amway India has established a nation-wide presence with 120 offices, 55 city warehouses and four regional mother warehouses.
 
The distribution and home delivery network set up with the support of independent logistics partners is spread across over 2,500 locations. At present, Amway India offers 80 products in four categories- Personal care category, Home Care category, Nutrition & Wellness category and Cosmetics category.
 
"The company, which began its operation in the country in 1998, has recorded eight-fold increase in sales in the last nine years. We could achieve this growth due to high quality of Amway products as well as the consumers¿ confidence in the brand Amway. The company registered a growth of 16 per cent to Rs. 738 crore in 2006, as against Rs. 636 crore, previous year (2005). The company is eyeing to touch Rs. 1,000 crore mark in next three years," the company executive told Business Standard.
 
"As a part of supply chain strategy, Amway intends to enhance its reach and be presence in every 200km across the length & breadth of the country. With this objective in mind, the company has plans to open Amway offices in over 100 locations in next 12 months. This penetration drive of reaching interior locations will not only facilitate Amway distributors, but will also enhance brand visibility. These offices will provide easy access to any information regarding the company, products and services, facilitate product purchasing, home deliveries, new inquiries and other such customer service related activities."
 
"Nearly 60% of the turnover comes from 30 cosmetic and 16 Nutrition products. The Direct Selling industry was in a nascent stage when we entered the market. Today, this industry is a thriving Rs. 3100 crore industry. At the same time, the direct selling industry still had some distance to cover, essentially as industry was still not very well understood", he added.
