Amway India expecting to touch Rs 2,500 cr turnover by 2012

Direct selling FMCG company Amway India is expecting to touch Rs 2,500-crore turnover mark by 2012, a top company official said today.

"...We are expecting to touch Rs 2,500 crore (turnover)," Amway India Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director William S Pinckney told reporters here.

In 2009, the company had reported a turnover of Rs 1,407 crore and was expecting to touch Rs 1,750 crore this year. It should be around Rs 2,000 crore next year, he said.

He also said inn the first quarter, it grew by 32 per cent. Referring to the company's revenues, he said China leads with more than Rs 10,000 crore turnover while India is at the seventh spot.

The firm would focus more on nutrition and beauty products this year. "We have added four more new lines at the manufacturing plant at Baddi (in Himachal Pradesh) particularly to focus more on nutrition and beauty," Pinckney said.

He said the size of Indian direct selling industry is Rs 3,330 crore and is expected to reach Rs 5,328 crore by 2012-2013.

Pinckney later inaugurated the first Amway India Enterprises Health and Beauty brand assessment centre in Tamil Nadu, which is also their ninth in the country.
