Anchor Health and Beauty Care Limited (AHBCL), a division of Mumbai-based Anchor Group of Companies, aims to increase its market share in Orissa from 8 per cent to 10 per cent by the end of the current fiscal.
"We have taken a well adopted strategy to scale up our business in the state by expanding the number of dealers and also through a well-organised propaganda", KC Subudhi, the company’s head for Orissa, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh told Business Standard. The company has a strong dealership network of around 200 in Orissa.
Several company officers including Subudhi were here to attend a dealers’ meeting to promote the company products. The meet was attended by around 150 traders from different parts of the state.
The important products of the 12 year-old company include toothpaste under the brand name of Anchor and Dyna soap. The other division of the Anchor Group of companies is Anchor Electronics which mainly produces the electrical goods including switches and plugs.
While the products of AHBCL have a strong presence in the southern states like Kerala and Karnataka, the company also has a good presence in Rajasthan, Uttaranchal and Gujarat. The company is now concentrating on rural areas to spread its business.
“We are now eyeing the rural consumers to spread our business for bathing soap and toothpaste", Subudhi said. He claimed that the company has already established a strong market in urban areas of the state.
The Anchor Group of Companies clocked a turnover of Rs 2,000 crore last year, with its health and beauty care unit contributing Rs 300 crore.
