Andhra Sugars Ltd reported a net profit of Rs 20.22 crore in the three months to March 31, up 60 per cent over Rs 12.61 crore in the corresponding period last year. Sales income grew 12.6 per cent to Rs 142.63 crore from Rs 126.59 crore.
At Rs 86.25 crore, caustic soda accounted for 55 per cent of the quarterly revenue, followed by sugar at Rs 44.39 crore (28.31 per cent), industrial chemicals at Rs 30.38 crore (19.38 per cent) and power generation at Rs 8.2 crore (5.23 per cent).
For the full year of 2010-11, however, the net profit halved to Rs 33.37 crore from Rs 66.75 crore in 2009-10. Income from sales in the year was Rs 470.03 crore, down 14.78 per cent from Rs 551.59 per cent.
On the BSE, the company scrip ended the trade at Rs 101.80, up .89 per cent from its previous close of Rs 100.90.
