Apollo Health begins work on The Cradle in Kozhikode

Apollo Health and Lifestyle Ltd (AHLL) is developing a state-of-the-art birthing centre, christened 'The Cradle', in Kozhikode. The company plans to expand its reach in other cities of Kerala soon.

The Cradle will cater to the need of expecting mothers and newborns. It is an initiative of Kozhikode-based Dr Kutty Healthcare Private Ltd in association with AHLL. Work on the new project has already commenced.

“We are planning expansion to Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram by next year and will have a few more such centres of excellence in the metros by the year end,” said Ratan Jalan, CEO of Apollo Health and Lifestyle. Designed by Toronto-based Skydome Architects, the Kozhikode project will be built on an area of 30,000sq ft, and is expected to be ready by September 2009.

The facility will offer four consultation rooms, two labour, delivery and recovery suites, four suites, and about 20 deluxe and private rooms apart from a neonatal intensive care unit. Kozhikode records the highest number of delivery in Kerala and the Cradle aims to bag 20 per cent of the market.The Cradle at Kozhikode will be the first to have a ‘boutique maternity and neonatal centre’ in the Kerala city.
