Apollo Hospitals to invest Rs 2,000 cr on capacity upgrade

Plans to add 2000 beds in the next 2-3 years

Leading super speciality hospital chain Apollo Hospitals Ltd has lined up an investment of Rs 2,000 crore in the next 2-3 years for adding 2,000 new beds.

“Presently, we have 54 hospitals across the country. In the next 2-3 years, we are going to add 2,000 beds. While we will expand the bed strength at our existing facilities, we will also be setting up 10 new ‘Apollo Reach’ hospitals in smaller cities like Nasik, Nellore and Trichy. Apollo Hospitals has set aside Rs 2,000 crore for expansion,” said Anupam Sibal, group medical director, Apollo Hospitals.

“We are expanding to smaller towns to ensure that people do not have to travel beyond their state for availing our healthcare except for some complicated cases. Apollo Hospitals is treating over one million patients every quarter. Our strength lies in offering the best healthcare solutions at an affordable price,” he added.

Apollo Hospitals is observing 15 years of successful liver transplantation in the country. Over 1,600 liver transplants have been performed at different centres of Apollo Hospitals. “The first successful paediatric and adult liver transplants in the country were performed in 1998 at Apollo Hospital, Delhi,” said Sibal.
