Apollo Hospitals Enterprises Ltd is planning to raise Rs 20 crore to support its philanthropic arm SACHi - Saving A Child's Heart initiative. SACHi was established in 2003 to provide paediatric cardiac care to children from the lower socioeconomic group, covers early diagnosis, treatment and funding for children suffering from heart diseases.
“We are touching around 2,000 lives per year through this initiative. We aim to cover more than 5,000 children this year. Each surgery costs Rs 17,000-65,000. To achieve our target of reaching 5,000 children, we are planning to raise Rs 20 crore,” said Sangita Reddy, managing director of Apollo Hospitals. Around 45,000 children are denied treatment every year, she said, adding the group hoped to reach at least 10 per cent of them.
