Apollo to offer telemedicine to Mantri's residents

Mantri Developers, the Bangalore-based property developer, has tied up with Apollo Hospitals to provide healthcare services through telemedicine to the residents of Mantri homes.
 
Sushil Mantri, chairman and managing director, Mantri Developers, said here on Thursday, "We are exploring healthcare services 24x7 through telemedicine with Apollo Hospitals in our residential projects as a pilot. Once it stabilises, the concept will be incorporated in all future projects."
 
During the trial period, residents can obtain diagnosis from an expert panel of doctors associated with Apollo Hospitals for free. Subsequently, a user fee will be levied on the users depending on the service sought.
 
The company is introducing the service in Mantri Espana, a luxury residential complex located on Sarjapur outer ring road.
 
"Apollo Hospitals had been exploring the idea of telemedicine in residential complexes and we were in talks with numerous builders. But it was Mantri Developers who took it forward first," said K Ganapathy, president, Apollo Telemedicine Network Foundation (ATNF).
 
"We will be installing a telemedicine unit for Rs 3 lakh to 5 lakh at Mantri Espana which enables doctors from Apollo Hospitals to virtually examine patients from through video conferencing," he added.
 
Through this network, all clinical information, including blood pressure, heart sounds can be transmitted from the telemedicine centre. Remote ECG monitoring is also being made available. "Post-diagnosis, medicines will be prescribed, supplied and ongoing treatments maintained through teleconsultations," explained Ganapathy.
 
The ATNF, which has been operating telemedicine network in the country for seven years, has 103 peripheral units, including 10 located overseas mainly in SAARC region and has overseen more than 40,000 to 42,000 teleconsultations.
