Aptech Ltd, a global learning organisation, has posted a 61 per cent rise in net profit at Rs 5.01 crore for the second quarter ended June 30, 2004, as against Rs 3.11 crore in the second quarter of 2003-04.

Revenues rose by 23.7 per cent at Rs 28.15 crore as against Rs 22.76 crore in the April-June 2004, the company said in a release.

The recent surge in recruitments by the IT services and the BPO industry has re-kindled the interest in IT training amongst students, boosting student enrollments and revenues, the company's managing director Pramod Khera said.

"This trend is expected to continue in the next quarter. Additionally, recent prestigious orders from the Orissa (schools) and Himachal Pradesh (land records) governments are expected to add to the institutional revenues in the coming months," he added.

Meanwhile, the net profit and total revenues for first half ended (January-June 2004) stood at Rs 7.67 crore (Rs 5.05 crore in H1 of 2003) and Rs 50.82 crore (Rs 45.41 crore) respectively, it said.
