APTransco has been recognised as the best performing state utility in the country in Category-III (utilities – transmission and distribution) for its excellence in operation and reducing the T&D losses from 18.34 per cent in 2009-10 to 17.76 per cent in 2010-11. APTransco was selected for the award by the jury panel of the fifth Enertia Awards-2011.
The transmission losses for 2010-11 were at 4.48 per cent, as against 4.68 per cent in the previous year. And, 99.89 per cent system availability of APTransco remains the highest in the country with a low power transformer failure rate of 1.53 per cent, which is also the lowest in the country. The award was received by K Ranganatham, joint managing director of APTransco, at a ceremony held in Mumbai recently.
APTransco chairman and managing director Ajay Jain said in a press release on Sunday that the corporation was aiming at further reducing transmission losses on a par with international standards and the utility had envisaged to invest Rs 6,000 crore in the next four years for construction of four 400 KV, 37 220 KV, 125 132 KV, among others, for strengthening the power systems.
