Areva T&D India has been awarded a Rs 120 crore contract for electrical Balance of Plant (eBOP) by L&T Power for state utility, Madhya Pradesh Power Generating Company Ltd.
The order is for the supply and installation of eBOP solutions for two 600-Mw thermal plants at Malwa, south-west Madhya Pradesh, Areva T&D said in a filing with the Bombay Stock Exchange.
As part of the project, Areva T&D will manufacture and install a 400/420 vV air-insulated substation, along with distribution and power transformers and low-voltage switchboards.
The filing quoted Rathin Basu, Country President and Managing Director, Areva T&D, as saying that this is the company's third such contract in India in recent years.
It added that the Malwa plant is scheduled for commissioning in September 2011 and will generate about 28.8 million units of electricity a day.
The project is being funded by the state government and Power Finance Corporation.

Shares of Areva T&D were up 4.24 per cent at Rs 281.70 in afternoon trade on the Bombay Stock Exchange.
