Ashok Leyland expects 80 per cent of its total volume to come from the U-Truck platform, post the launch of its 25 models of tippers and tractors under the U-Truck category.
The company launched 10 models of tippers and tractors under U-truck in Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday. “Another 15 models are set to enter the market in a year's time,” Rajive Saharia, executive director (marketing), Ashok Leyland, said.
Last year, the company sold 64,000 units under the 9-49 tonnes (medium-heavy) vehicle category and around 90,000 units this year. "For the next financial year, we are expecting a 15 per cent growth," he added.
Ashok Leyland has 30 per cent market share in the commercial truck (under 9-49 tonnes ) category and around 35-37 per cent market share in 16-49 tonnes vehicles. In the tractors segment, its share is 39 per cent. “We are aiming to grow from 32-40 per cent in the tipper segment over the next one year,” he added.
Currently, the company is focusing on research, development and product innovation. “A lot of product variants are in the pipeline including 2/3 cabins under the commercial vehicles segment,” he said.
