Ashok Leyland Q4 net rises 34% to Rs 298 cr

Hinduja Group flagship company Ashok Leyland reported net profits for the year ending March 31, 2011 at Rs 631.2 crore, up 49% over last year.

The company has reported Rs 423.6 crore net profits for the year ending March 31 last year.

For the fourth quarter ending March 31, 2011, the company reported net profits at Rs 298.2 crore as against Rs 222.6 crore in the same period of previous year, up 33.39%, Ashok Leyland Managing Director Vinod K Dasari said while addressing the annual press conference here.

The net sales of the company for fiscal ending March this year stood at Rs 11,117.70 crore as against Rs 7,244.71 crore reported in the same period of previous year, he said.

For the fourth quarter ending March 31, 2011 the net sales of the company stood at Rs 3,828.53 crore as against Rs 2,939.04 crore reported in the same period of previous year.

He termed the year 2011 as "a year of records".

The company recorded highest volumes both on the domestic and overseas markets. The domestic volumes jumped by 45% to touch 83,800 vehicles, as against 57,947 vehicles in the previous fiscal.

On the exports side, the company sold 10,306 units in FY11, up by 72% from 5,979 units last fiscal.
