Ashok Leyland's UK arm appoints Tim Matthews as retail sales manager

Tim Matthews' appointment as UK Retail Sales Manager of Optare will be effective from June 2, 2014

Ashok Leyland's subsidary, Optare has roped in Tim Matthews, the former senior executive of Autobus Classique and Mistral Group. He will join as the Optare UK Retail Sales Manager. The bus manufacturer, in the last two months, has strengthened its ability to tap global opportunities.
 
In May Optare appointed David Siviero from Iveco Bus as the company's new sales, marketing and service director. His appointment helped the company expand its footprint outside Europe, especially in West Asia and other Asian markets.
 
Tim Matthews' appointment as UK Retail Sales Manager of Optare will be effective from June 2, 2014.

Matthews' involvement in the bus industry began in 1993, while he was working for Autobus Classique, which was purchased by Optare in 1996. As a part of the manufacturing team, Matthews was Materials Manager responsible for all purchasing and logistics at the Optare Rotherham site.
 
Commenting on Matthews' appointment, Siviero said, "He brings with him a wealth of sales, rental & finance experience to the role and has particularly strong connections across the independent sector. His appointment will strengthen the commercial team and support the company in achieving growth in the UK."
 
Matthews said he would use his experience to help expand and solidify Optare's presence in the UK market, where it is already achieving encouraging results.
