Asia MotorWorks (AMW), the market leader in the 49 tonne heavy commercial vehicle segment, today launched its new generation Global Truck Series in Delhi. |
The Global Truck series meets Euro II emission norms and has components from global leaders such as Cummins, Valeo, Meritor, Dana Spicer & ZF. It is the only one in the country to carry the highest permissible load of 49 tonnes. |
The company had sold 1000 heavy trucks in the last financial year and has set a target of 5000 units this year. It would increase the dealership size to 40 during the financial year, from the current 26. |
Anirudha Bhuwalka, managing director and CEO, AMW, said, "There has been a tremendous growth and demand in the commercial vehicle segment, with rapid industrialisation, sustained GDP growth of over 9 per cent and new highway projects such as the Golden Quadrilateral project and the highway corridors. We see that the freight industry is poised for a major leap. Despite competing with majors such as Tata Motors and Ashok Leyland, we plan to emerge as the largest player in the heavy truck segment and have consistently increased our sales in the past one year." |
The company, which has a 10,000-units plant in Bhuj at Gujarat, would appoint 400 sub-dealers in the country and provide coverage at every 200 kilometres on major highways such as the Golden Quadrilateral, North-South Corridor and East-West Corridor. |
"The growth in infrastructure and commercial establishment has created a demand for heavy machinery and movement of goods. We have a broad strategy to have a sales and service distribution network in every nook and corner of the country to challenge global majors such as Volvo, Scania and DiamlerChrysler, who are expected to launch their range of heavy trucks in India," said, R C Mangal, senior vice-president, marketing, AMW. |
The company, which also has plans to introduce buses in the future, has appointed CT Motors as its dealer in Delhi. "Through Delhi & the NCR, we want to strengthen our presence in the north India market. We aim to sell around 1,000 vehicles in Northern India, out of the 5,000 HCVs targeted for this financial year," Bhulwanka added. |
