Asia-Pacific award for RPG Retail

At a recent Asia-Pacific gathering in Singapore, the retail business magazine Retail Asia unveiled the first-ever ranking of Asia-Pacific's leading retail companies.

The Gold for India was awarded to RPG Retail, which currently operates more than 350 stores, branded FoodWorld, Giant Hypermarkets, MusicWorld, Health & Glow and Spencer's Hypermarket.

RPG Retail, which generated sales of Rs 528.75 crore last year, also received the 'Best of the Best' award in the Asia Pacific region.

Four other companies from Australia, Japan, Singapore and Taiwan were also included in the Top 5 Retailers in Asia Pacific.

Sanjiv Goenka, vice-chairman of RPG Enterprises said RPG Retail would double its outlets by March 2007. The projected annual sales from 600 outlets would be Rs 2,000 crore.
