Online marketplace AskmeBazaar.com launched the next-day delivery model in Kolkata on Monday. Under this model, the company will deliver products to buyers within 24 hours after the order is being placed.
“This model marries the best of hyper-local and online commerce to offer the best-quality products, picked from local retailers,” said Marichi Mathur, head (next-day delivery) at AskmeBazaar.com.
The business model of the company is different from other e-commerce companies as the firm will list only those products that are available in the local market.
The company plans to expand the next-day delivery model to 50 cities within a month. At present, the facility is available in Jaipur and Nagpur.
According to analysts tracking the sector, e-commerce companies are going to boost up their on-demand delivery as they battle for market share.
Of late, the company has been on an acquisition spree as it acquired online groceries start-up bestatlowest.com for a deal value of $10 million. The company further invested $20 million in online furniture marketplace MebelKart for a majority stake.
