AstraZeneca Pharma India today said it is undertaking voluntary recall of sterile products manufactured at its Bangalore facility.
"This recall is a purely voluntary action on the part of the company taken as a measure of extra and abundant caution although there is no patient safety issue related to sterility," AstraZeneca said in a filing to BSE.
This recall is following an internal audit conducted by the company, it added.
"A temporary interruption of supplies of the affected products is expected," AstraZeneca said.
AstraZeneca operates through two entities, AstraZeneca Pharma India Ltd and AstraZeneca India Pvt Ltd in the country.
Shares of AstraZeneca Pharma India were today trading at Rs 1,800 in the early afternoon trade on BSE, up 1.13% from the previous close.
