Assessment Tomorrow Limited (ATL), a UK-based organisor of seminars and conferences in the field of e-assessment, is in talks with the West Bengal information technology (IT) and the higher education ministries to formally introduce e-asessment in educational institutions.

Speaking on the sidelines of a seminar organised by the Bengal Engineering and Science University(BESU), Jeff Ross, director of ATL said, "I have spoken to Debesh Das, minister for IT in West Bengal and some high level officials in the education ministry to take up the issue of e-assessment more seriously and formally introduce it to the institutes. We are mainly targetting universities to take up e-assessment."

E-assessment provided an invaluable tool for the individual, the institute, the company and the economy to measure, understand and boost the talent pool, added Ross.

The process of e-assessment will require substantial investment in the initial phase, but in the long run, it will be cost saving and convenient apart from saving time, further added Ross. The organisation is in dialogue with the NSHM knowledge campus, West Bengal University of Technology(WBUT) and North Bengal University(NBU) for introducing this format of assessment. BESU was also keen to introduce e-assessment formally for management related courses primarily for entrance examination purposes apart from introducing it for internal regular semesters, informed SC Saha, director of school of management sciences, BESU.
