Aurobindo appoints N Govindarajan as CEO for API, CRAMS biz

Drug maker Aurobindo Pharma today said it has appointed N Govindarajan as the Chief Executive Officer for its active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) operations as well as contract research and manufacturing services (CRAMS) with immediate effect.

"N Govindarajan will oversee Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs) Operations and Contract Research and Manufacturing Services (CRAMS) development business at Aurobindo," the company said in a statement.

Prior to joining Aurobindo Pharma, Govindarajan served as the Managing Director and CEO of Shasun Pharmaceuticals Ltd and has been instrumental in Shasun expanding its horizons beyond India and as one of the front-runners in the Indian CRAMS space, it said.
    
Commenting on the appointment, Aurobindo Pharma Chairman Ramprasad Reddy said: "He brings with him extensive and diverse experience, which we believe will help Aurobindo Pharma to augment its position in the market as leaders in pharmaceutical manufacturing."
    
An engineer by training from Annamalai University, Govindarajan has almost two decades of experience across variety of domains such as bulk drugs, CRAMS, and finished dosages and biotechnology.
