Aurobindo Pharma has announced that it has received another marketing authorization approval from Medicines Control Council (MCC) of South Africa.According to a release issued by Aurobindo to the BSE today, the MCC approved Lisinopril tablets in 5mg, 10mg and 20mg strengths. South African market is highly regulated and very important in its geographical sphere. The company by virtue of this approval can now participate in one of the key segments of South African market.'Lisinopril is the generic version of Zestril marketed by Astra Zeneca. Lisinopril Dihydrate is an effective, long acting orally administered ACE inhibitor. It is used often in the management of Hypertension', the release added.Adding that, Lisinopril belongs to a class of drugs that today commands a market value of $27 million in South Africa.
