Autodesk has announced the formation of a new geography, the APac Emerging Geo, encompassing India and Greater China (China, Hong Kong and Taiwan). In keeping with the company's growing priority to India, the formation of the new region will give the rapidly growing Asia Pacific zone the best possible support.

Autodesk is committed to deploying more resources and enhanced best practices to leverage the full potential of the Indian market and to work closely with customers.

Autodesk, recognising the growing role of India as an important, emerging global business destination, critical to their global growth, will be announcing further investments and market development strategies for the country.

Jack Gao, who has been appointed vice president for the APac Emerging Geo will report directly to Autodesk's headquarters in San Rafael, USA. Gao will also lead the Emerging Country Initiative Task Force which includes the APac Emerging Geo together with Russia and Brazil.

"The formation of the APac Emerging Geo, encompassing India is a reiteration of Autodesk's dedication to our customers in India and the region at large. We are committed to partnering our customers in their quest for excellence and business leadership. In this new structure we will be able to devote more of the company's resources and expertise to our customers," said Gao.

In order to ensure that APac Emerging Geo has direct access to Autodesk's core leadership, the Emerging Geo Steering Committee has been formed. The committee consists of Autodesk's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Carol Bartz, Chief Operating Officer, Carl Bass, Senior Vice President of Worldwide Sales, Ken Bado and Jack Gao, Vice President for the APac Emerging Geo.
