Avalon Tech sets up cable harness unit in MEPZ

Avalon Technologies, volume manufacturing arm of the US-based Sienna Group that provides contract-manufacturing solutions to leading global players, has created a new manufacturing facility on its campus in MEPZ Special Economic Zone, Chennai, for cable harness products.
 
The company has invested over $1 million in the new facility, which is expected to generate a revenue of $ 10 million, a company release said.
 
It also plans to acquire an additional 30,000 sq feet area adjacent to the new facility. Currently, Avalon has 150,000 sq ft production facility in MEPZ and another 50,000 sq feet area in US.
 
Avalon's cable operations at present employs about 300 people and the workforce is expected to be doubled within a year.
 
The company is also looking at establishing a new facility exclusively for training its employees and engineers for advanced cable harness operations.
 
For the year ended March 31, 2005, the company reported a turnover of Rs 100 crore. It is likely to end this fiscal with a turnover of Rs 150 crore.
