Avaya to strengthen India R&D

The US-based company plans to increase India R&D team by 20%

Business communications solutions' provider Avaya on Friday said the company will increase its R&D presence within the next 4-6 quarters. The US-based company, which presently has around 1,000 people in its R&D division in India, will increase the team strength by 20%.

Marc Randall, Senior Vice-President and General Manager, Avaya Networking, said, “India is a strategic market for us not only because of the economics, but also of the talent pool available here. The R&D team in India is doing important work for many of our products.”

Around 30-40% of the company's total R&D tam is based in India. It has two R&D centres in India in Pune and Bangalore. The $5 billion company also said it is strengthening the channel partnership programme in the country to increase its reach in the country. Avaya also said that the company's India business is growing at double digit and believes the same to continue.

The company is targeting sectors like manufacturing, hospitality, retail in the country.

“In the emerging markets India offers as a huge opportunity and we really that there is a potential in the market,” Randall added.
