Aztecsoft, Kamdhenu & Dalmia Cement Q3 results

Software product engineering service provider Aztecsoft posted a consolidated net profit of Rs 11.15 crore in the quarter ended December 31, 2006 , up 11.94 per cent over Rs 9.96 crore for the corresponding period last year.
 
Revenues on a consolidated basis rose to touch Rs 71.34 crore in the latest quarter, up 34.65 per cent from Rs 52.98 crore during the same period last year.
 
During the December 2006 quarter, Aztecsoft added 11 clients with a mix of players and emerging clients. The consolidated revenues of Rs 71.34 crore for the December 2006 quarter increased by 5 per cent q-o-q from Rs 67.92 crore in the September 2006 quarter. The net profit for December 2006 quarter was Rs 11.15 crore, lower than Rs 11.46 crore in the September 2006 quarter.
 
"Our business growth has been good and we have been able to continue the trend in opening new accounts. However, profitability has been mainly impacted by the sharp exchange rate movement during the quarter," V Chandrasekaran, managing director & CEO, Aztecsoft, said.
 
The total active client count increased to 89, while its manpower stood at 2,682 at the end of December 31, 2006, registering a 42 per cent growth as against 1,890 employees at the end of December 31, 2005. The client addition includes business leaders in the data management, wireless and other segments.
 
Kamdhenu bottomline grows to Rs 26 cr
 
Steel bars manufacturer Kamdhenu Ispat today reported more than three-fold jump in its net profit during the quarter ended December 31, 2006, at Rs 25.96 crore as against Rs 68.82 lakh in the corresponding quarter last year. Total income of the company during the quarter surged by 145 per cent at Rs 711.49 crore compared to Rs 290.65 crore in the year-ago quarter, Kamdhenu said in a statement.
 
"The company has adopted strategic business models, which are generating optimum results owing to their timely and well-planned execution. Our endeavour is to keep performing with quality at the top priority," Kamdhenu Ispat Chairman and Managing Director Satish Agarwal said in the statement.
 
For the nine-month period ended December 31, 2006, the company reported over four-fold increase in its turnover at Rs 84.49 crore and around two-fold increase in its total income at Rs 2,134.22 crore.
 
The company said it has utilised Rs 28.22 crore of the Rs 32 crore raised through the IPO route in the quarter in various capex plans.
 
Dalmia Cement PAT up five-fold to Rs 65 cr
 
Dalmia Cement (Bharat) today reported a more than five-fold jump in its net profit at Rs 64.84 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2006, compared with Rs 11.72 crore in the year-ago period.
 
Sales for the quarter ended December 31, 2006, rose by 66 per cent at Rs 231.05 crore against Rs 138.90 crore in the corresponding period last year, the company said in a statement.
 
Dalmia Cement had recently announced plans to set up a 4 million tonne per annum capacity greenfield cement plant in Andhra Pradesh for an investment of Rs 1,450 crore.
 
The expansion, which would be funded by raising external money, would take the company's total cement capacity to about 12 million tonne, it said. The company also plans to commission two new plants in sugar business in the next quarter.
