London-bound flights of British Airways from Delhi, Kolkata and Chennai would start operating from the swanky new Terminal Five (T-5) of Heathrow airport from October 22.

The flights of the premier British carrier from Bangalore are already operating from T-5, along with other long-haul flights to several destinations like New York JFK and Beijing.

A BA spokesperson said the flights from Delhi, Kolkata and Chennai would start operating from T-5 from October 22.

The airline has been shifting its operations to the newly-launched ultra-modern terminal since March this year. Almost five million passengers have travelled through T-5 till July 4, the spokesperson added.

The final long-haul moves are taking place after the traditionally busy summer period. The remaining flights that move on October 22 would complete the airline's transition to T-5, she said.

T-5 would be handling approximately 510 flights every day, including 150 long-haul ones.

British Airways is the sole occupant of the plush new terminal complex which features 60 new aircraft stands, two satellite buildings, besides rail links to the city, a multi-storeyed car park and extensive landscaping.
