Bafna Pharmaceuticals today said it has received approval from the UK health regulator to produce popular drug Paracetamol and Loperamide capsules.

The company bagged approval from Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA), the UK, for contract manufacturing of Paracetamol and Loperamide, Bafna Pharma said in a statement.

The company got approval for manufacturing Paracetamol tablets and caplets in strengths of 500 mg each. Paracetamol is used in treatment of headache, toothache, period pains, common cold and feverish colds, and Loperamide capsules are used for the treatment of diarrhoea.

"The approval from UK MHRA for Paracetamol and Loperamide would further help us strengthen our already expanding business in the European market," Bafna Pharmaceuticals Chairman and MD Mahaveer Chand Bafna said.

He said, the UK MHRA approval will enable Bafna Pharma to widen the customer base in Europe.

"This is the eighth formulation approval received from UK MHRA for a product by Bafna Pharma for contract manufacturing," the company said.

Shares of Bafna were trading at Rs 44.25 on BSE, up 5.73 per cent from its previous close.
