Bajaj Auto targets Rs 10000 cr sales

Pune-based Bajaj Auto (BAL) is targeting revenues of Rs 10,000 crore for the current financial year with total sales of 28 lakh vehicles.
 
Rajiv Bajaj, managing director, BAL, said in Delhi today: "We are one of the most profitable two-wheeler company in India and probably in the world. We are expecting 25 per cent growth in turnover and 15 per cent in profit margins for the current fiscal. To make our growth consistent we would be launching four new bikes and a couple of scooters in future to enhance our market share."
 
BAL, the most profitable two-wheeler company, had maintain a 14.2 per cent profit margin for the December ended quarter and expects to increase it to about 15 per cent for the forth quarter ending this March. Its rival Hero Honda has posted a much lower profit margin of 11.3 per cent for the third quarter ended December.
 
The company, which thrives on the sales of motorcycles, forming 70 per cent of its total sales, will also launch the much awaited fuel injection mode 220-cc Pulsar motorcycle in June this year. It will have the largest engine made by Bajaj and the expected price tag is Rs 85,000.
 
Bajaj will also introduce its cruiser bike Avenger, with a new 200 cc engine and two more motorcycles models of around 125 cc later this year. It will also bring a scooter for the niche market Blade in next six months.
 
BAL's two wheeler greenfield project at Pantnagar in Uttranchal, with capacity of 500,000 units, will become operational from April this year. The company is also mulling a new greenfield project for the four-wheeler project.
 
"We will set up the facility in either Uttranchal or Maharashtra. The four-wheeler project is two year away and we will initially cater to the commercial goods market," Rajiv added.
 
The company today launched its 200 cc Pulsar DTS-i in Delhi today at the price of Rs 65,497 ex showroom, New Delhi. It will be the first bike to come with an Oil cooled engine (helps control engine oil temperatures at high speeds ) which generates 18 BHP of power.
 
It is also the first Indian bike to have standard electric start for engine cranking in place of the kick start lever and will have both front and rear tubeless tyres. It will carry a all digital console having all digital odometer, speedometer, fuel gauge and trip meter.
