Bajaj Electricals Limited (BEL), country’s leading consumer durable company, would create a separate products portfolio exclusively for the e-commerce segment.

“The final shape to the proposal would be given at the next annual general meeting in next 3-4 months,” Anant Bajaj, Joint Managing Director of BEL, said here today. The exact number of products to be included in the portfolio for the e-commerce segment would be decided when the proposal would be finalised, he added.

Bajaj said the company would manufacture the products exclusively for online sales with high specifications and the quality would differ from those on sale in the trade platform. “The products would be available only on the company’s e-commerce platform and not on the other online company sites,” he said, adding that a few products would be common on both the platforms.

Asserting that the management would ensure that there would be no conflict between the e-commerce and trade products, Bajaj said the major product models of the company would not be affected with the specific products for the online sale. He added that the mood of e-commerce customers cannot be studied and hence product had to be designed to match their taste. On the issue of warranty, he said BEL would be committed to provide service to its product no matter from which platform it had been purchased.

The company is also mooting a plan to make Chhattisgarh a hub once the decision on GST (Goods and Service Tax) was taken. “Raipur (Chhattisgarh capital) was most suitable with logistic support and other reasons to become a hub so that the BEL could cater the demand of central and eastern India,” he added.
