Bajaj Auto said it has introduced special characteristics in its spare parts in an effort to identify them apart from the counterfeit Bajaj products. A holographic strip has been made a part of every packaged part and the company also said it has detailed security measures on its website.
The auto major said it has to take such a step in the wake of more and more automobile spare parts shops getting caught for the selling parts which were not genuine.
The company in a press release said it had recently given a lead due to which a raid was conducted by the Police on an automobile spare parts shop in the residential area of Pimple Gurav, near Pimpri Chinchwad. This shop was found to be packing and selling counterfeit Bajaj spare parts.
The offenders were arrested and FIR (first information report) was filed against them under Trademark act. Around 3000 pieces of counterfeit parts, many bundles of fake packing material, together worth Rs 3 lakh were seized from their premises.
These criminal actions not only infringe ‘Bajaj brand‘ affecting brands credibility, but also cheat the customer who gets a substandard part , which when fitted in vehicle will not give proper service, besides possibly creating safety issues.
The government also loses precious revenue in terms of taxes. Bajaj Auto has conducted similar raids in other locations of Pune and will conduct such raids in cities across the country to protect Bajaj brand and the customer.
