The country's second largest two-wheeler maker, Bajaj Auto, today reported a 66 per cent jump in motorcycle sales to 2,79,781 units in July.

The company had sold 1,68,163 units in July last year, Bajaj Auto (BAL) said in a statement.

BAL's exports went up by 56 per cent to 1,06,794 units in July, 2010, from 68,585 units in July, 2009.

While production constraints continued to limit sales of motorcycle and three-wheelers, "export sales continued to be ahead of plan," BAL said.

The company reported a 60 per cent rise in three-wheeler sales last month to 38,634 units, as against 24,104 units in the same month last year.

Total vehicle sales of the company last month stood at 3,18,415 units, compared to 1,92,835 units in the same period a year ago, a growth of 65 per cent, the statement said.

The company further said that motorcycles sales during the April-July period increased 70 per cent year-on-year, while three-wheelers sales were up 59 per cent. The company also registered a 74 per cent growth in exports during the April-June quarter.
