Bajaj Auto reported a 36% increase in motorcycle sales for November at 2,14,321 bikes when compared with 1,57,831 bikes in the same month last year. Higher exports pushed up the company's two and three-wheeler sales for the month by 33% to 2,43,713 vehicles as against 1,83,411 vehicles in the same month a year ago. The exports for November stood at 36,086 vehicles as compared to 23,112 vehicles in the year ago month, a significant jump of 56%, Bajaj Auto said in a statement. Sales of three-wheelers increased 71% to 29,384 vehicles from 17,157 vehicles in the year ago period. The company said its 100 cc motorcycle Platina has crossed the sales mark of 5 lakh bikes and that the cumulative sales of the Discover had exceeded the 1 million mark since its launch. The motorcycle capacity of the company is being expanded to 3 lakh units per month from April 2007 in anticipation of a 25% growth next fiscal.The company would introduce three new motorcycles over the next few months, with a view to move a majority of customers away from 100cc 4-stroke motorcycles. For the April-November period, Bajaj Auto posted a 35% increase in its motorcycle sales at 16,56,591 vehicles against 12,30,943 vehicles in the corresponding period last fiscal. Exports in the period under review grew a whopping 81% at 2,86,343 vehicles exported compared to 1,58,231 vehicles in the same period a year ago.
