Balaji Shipping Lines (BSL), part of the Transworld Group of companies, said it will start their direct service to Sohar Port in Oman from Mundra port in Gujarat beginning next month.

The company's shipping service, called AGS, was started its operations in 2011 and provides customers with connections between the Indian sub-continent, Saudi Arabia and Iraq via UAE's Jebel Ali.

The new direct service to Port of Sohar is in line with the growing needs of customers, the company said in a statement.

The highlights of the AGS service include vessels accepting both general and containerised cargo, service customised to the trade requirements and end to end solutions for a diverse set of business, it added.

BSL's AGS services have been created with the purpose of building stronger transport and logistics highways between the Indian sub-continent, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Iraq and Oman.

Located just outside the Strait of Hormuz, Port of Sohar is within easy reach of the economies of the Gulf, Indian sub-continent and has close proximity to Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Al Ain and Muscat.
