Balco appoints Ramesh Nair as Chief Executive Officer

Prior to joining Balco, Nair was with Jindal Stainless as President and Executive Director

Bharat Aluminium Company (Balco), a Vedanta Group company, today said it has appointed Ramesh Nair as its Chief Executive Officer.



Prior to joining Balco, Nair was with Jindal Stainless as President and Executive Director. He has over 20 years of experience in the metals industry and has also worked with Vedanta group for 11 years in past, including as Chief Operating Officer of Sterlite Copper.

"I am glad to have Ramesh Nair as Balco CEO and have strong belief that he will be able to steer Balco to its full potential," Vedanta group chairman Anil Agarwal said on his appointment.

Balco, an erstwhile PSU now controlled by Vedanta, has 2.45 lakh tonne per annnum (LTPA) aluminium smelter in Chhattisgarh along with a 810 MW thermal power plant.

It is also in the final stages of commissioning a new 3.25 LTPA aluminium smelter with 1200 MW thermal power plant at an investment of about Rs 10,000 crore.
