Ballarpur Industries has reported a 9.4% rise in net profit at Rs 47.40 crore for the second quarter ended December 31, 2005 from Rs 43.31 crore in the corresponding quarter a year ago.According to a release issued by the company to the BSE today, total income dropped marginally to Rs 438.35 crore when compared with Rs 444.75 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2004.The board cleared an interim dividend @ 12.5% on the equity shares of the company."The meeting also cleared a proposal to make APR Packaging a 100% subsidiary of the company and its subsequent merger," the release added.The meeting also approved a plan to hive off/sell assets of the power division and real estate undertakings to two separate companies, and the disinvestment of the entire shareholding of the company in The Paperbase Company, the release added.
