The company has presented a dividend cheque for Rs 42.48 crore to the Union defence minister George Fernandes at his residence in New Delhi on Monday. The cheque was presented by Y. Gopala Rao, chairman and managing director, BEL.
The company has consistently been paying dividend, with the percentage of dividend increasing significantly every year. Last year, BEL paid a dividend of 50 per cent. BEL reached its highest ever turnover of Rs 2508 crore in 2002-2003.
