Bharat Forge Ltd (BHL), the flagship company of the Rs 240 crore Kalyani Group has commissioned a 4,000 tonnes open forgings press at its Mundhwa facility in Pune.
The new facility will produce ingots ranging up to 70 tonnes and will primarily supply to the energy, steel, cement and petrochemical industries.
The move is a backward integration of the company’s business profile and it has already tied up long term contracts with customers for this.
BFL is a global supplier of forged and machined-engine components. The setting up of the new facility marks the shift of the company from automotive to non-automotive sector.
Currently, the company has manufacturing facilities in six countries — four in India — and manufactures safety components for passenger cars, commercial vehicles and diesel engines.
