Bharti Airtel appoints Andrew Kossowski as CIO for Africa business

Kossowski was earlier working in Ericsson as the Vice President-Operations for Latin America and the Caribbean

Country's largest telecom service provider Bharti Airtel has appointed Andrew Kossowski as Chief Information Officer for its Africa business with effect from May 15 this year.
 
Kossowski was earlier working in Ericsson as the Vice President-Operations for Latin America and the Caribbean. He has also worked at the NII Holdings as the Director of Global Programs where he led the initial market deployment of the 3G systems, post-paid and pre-paid modernization, according to a company statement.
 
Kossowski, who takes over from George Fanthome, holds a Master of Science degree in Computer Information Systems from Boston University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Professional Aeronautics from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
 
According to Christian de Faria, CEO, Airtel Africa, Kossowski will be a key part of driving Airtel’s information technology (IT) strategy, whilst building stronger collaborative governance relationships with partners. “He will be instrumental in driving the IT Strategy for our Africa business through a strong central team of subject-matter-experts, whilst building superior execution capabilities within all the 17 countries that we operate in”, Faria said.
Bharti has operations in 20 countries across Asia and Africa.
